Taylah Canning Week 4
Process:
Planning my poster design with thumbnails of different ideas.
Starting by brainstorming different words that related to the issue and browsing Pinterest for references helped.
My final 3 choices. All 3 are different, however, I felt most inspired by the third one and new I could expand on it further with a different medium.
Referring to the colour wheel, I wanted contrasting complementary colours. A bold blue background to reflect the colour of the sea/ the topic of the issue and I was undecided on the colour of the coral, so I referred to the Adobe colour wheel!
Using the scanned image of my sketch, I traced over it using Procreate. I experimented with line thickness, colours and typography.
The final photo is the final image. I wanted a font that wasn't too professional but also not child-ish. I chose the Noteworthy font as it was bold, curved and clear with the orange text at the bottom to make it prominent.
Process:
With the collage, I gathered various grocery catalogues to cut. I began by cutting each plastic bottle I found and mapping out how I wanted to glue it onto the blue crafts paper.
I ended up cutting out letters to form the text and drawing the sea life around the coral to have use of different tools.
Reflection:
The brainstorming process was my standard process of sketching different thumbnails to decipher my final poster design. Referring to Pinterest and my key words definitely helped me navigate during this designing phase. As the "Coral Grave" design inspired me the most, I chose it for the final poster design.

Moving onto Procreate, I enjoy exploring the different functions it has so tracing over the picture and experimenting with colours was fun and easy. I was undecided on the colour scheme so I referred to the Adobe colour wheel, knowing I wanted blue. The colour wheel suggested the most complimentary colour would be orange and I agreed. It gave it contrast that was pleasing to the eye and made the colour bold. I avoided added too much dimension to the poster as keeping it simple didn't take from the message the poster was conveying.

With the collage, I hadn't done crafts in a while so this technique was different. I collected various grocery catalogues and cut out any plastic bottles.
Then I began to cut out letters to form the text, reflecting on this, I feel like it resembled a ransom note. I would change that next time and aim for having the text more conjoined. I believe adding the drawings of the sea life was a good decision as it adds character, texture and a different medium to the poster.
